BMX Rims

You can determine your BMX rims sizing for width based on your weight. Little guys up to 65 pounds will use sew ups. For riders who weigh between 50 lbs to 90 lbs you will need 20 or 24 x 1-1/8" rims. Between 85 lbs to 120 lbs, 20 or 24 x 1-3/8" rims; between 115 lbs to 150 lbs, 20 or 24 x 1.50" rims; riders weighing 140 lbs and up, 20 or 24 x 1.75" rims and  for those trails/street riders you will need 20 x 1.75" rims.

You can buy $20 allow rims or $50 rims with double walls, constructed out of 7003E-T6 aluminum which is stronger than traditional 6061 aluminum and contains three hollow chambers and angled spoke holes to create a stiffer wheel. Sometimes paying a little extra for these features will pay off in the long run depending how much riding you do.
