BMX Helmets
BMX helmets are made by lots of top notch companies such as Giro, ProTech, Bell, SixSixOne, ProRider, Anvil among others. You can get an full face helmet or an open face helmet. Obviously the full face helmet is going to give you more protection than the open face. But an open face helmet is better than wearing nothing at all. Cracking your skull open, concussions and brain damage can be the alternative consequence of not wearing a helmet. Wearing a helmet is way cooler than knocking your head on the ground and not being able to ride, among other things, ever again. You will want to get a helmet that fits snug, but not too tight. It should feel comfortable on your head. If you get one too tight, there will be pressure points within the helmet that will cause discomfort, pain and possibly headaches. It should not move back and forth when you move your head side to side. Also take into consideration that the the helmet lining and cushioning will get a little looser after wearing it for awhile.

BMX Helmets Fitting Tips
Like the video, says, do not go through the trouble of getting a properly fitted helmet only to have the chin strap dangling two inches below your chin. When you have that hard impact, the helmet is going to go flying and your head will hit hard without any protection.
